Keeping it Real – Tools For A Successful Life

Louise Johnson, Senior Psychologist and Director of 4Thought Psychology, has passionately worked to distil her 20+ years of professional experience and key therapeutic principles into a small group workshop experience delving into strategies everybody can call on to help successfully tackle today’s challenges.

In today’s post-pandemic times, so many of us find we are struggling to navigate our “new normal” and find ways to thrive day to day rather than merely survive. The pressures of work, relationships, parenting, and social interaction overwhelm us.

The ‘Keeping It Real – Tools for a Successful Life’ workshop series will offer participants:

  • Skills, tools, and strategies to build the confidence and knowledge in facilitating your own ability to change, grow and adapt to the challenges life throws us.
  • Small group experiences where you will be expertly led through techniques to extend growth and facilitate change at home (you will not be asked to share your personal story).
  • Access to cost effective therapeutic tools, supporting an acceleration of personal growth without reliance on one-to-one therapy.

Each 1-hour session will provide participants with opportunities to learn how to identify core patterns of thinking and emotions that influence behaviours and foster confidence in how to operate in the world. These include:

  • Control
  • Lovability, deservedness & worthiness
  • Speaking your truth
  • Risk taking
  • Understanding the wisdom of emotions and how they act as our navigation system
  • Using emotions to support rather than sabotage us in our relationships with ourselves, the world, and others

To assist working through the anxiety, fears and depressive symptoms that hold us back from living our best selves, you will learn independent methods of using:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing)
  • EFT (Tapping/Emotional Freedom Therapy)
  • IFS (Internal Family Systems/Parts Therapy)
  • Yoga, Mindfulness, & Meditation
  • Trauma release exercises
  • Reducing anxiety by tapping into the sympathetic nervous system and vagus nerve (responsible for “Fight or Flight”)

Keeping it Real is run as an initial core series of 3 x workshops (attended as a package).

ADDRESSING ANXIETY – Tools to Tame the Beast

The team at 4Thought Psychology understand that things are tough right now, and many of the issues we face are rooted in common concerns, like anxiety and depression. That’s why we’ve come together to collaborate, pool our experience, and share some of our proven techniques and trade secrets to tackle anxiety head on.

Anxiety is our body’s natural response to a threat or danger. It alerts us to the fact that something is not quite right. At times it can become too overwhelming and can lead to poor mental health. However, if we learn to understand our anxiety and what it is trying to tell us, we can train it, make it our friend and use it to help make ourselves stronger, more adaptable and resilient.

Whilst everyone is different, and needs to find their own individual path forward, there is comfort is knowing you’re not alone – and that there are some easy tools and techniques you can learn to help you start feeling better and be more in control of your anxiety now.

Movement Widsdom – Feldenkrais Method Workshops

Movement Wisdom was established by Physiotherapist and Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner Tali Plotnik.

Tali brings with her more than 20 years of experience as a physiotherapist working in areas of Neurology, Chronic Pain Management and Musculoskeletal Disorders.

In 2021, Tali completed a Masters of Science in Medicine (Pain Management) and now combines her extensive background in physiotherapy with the holistic approach of the Feldenkrais Method to assist her clients in finding greater comfort in their lives.

The Feldenkrais Method teaches you to pay attention to how you perform an action and helps you discover alternative ways to move that are more comfortable, more pleasurable, and easier to do. It improves how your brain and nervous system coordinate action and helps create greater flexibility of both mind and body. 

Classes are gentle, relaxing and explore simple sequences of movement. They are suitable for all ages, levels of performance and fitness. Wearing warm, comfortable clothing is advised.
